At our local grocery store are several opportunities to get involved and learn. In May, Macey's put out coloring pages for the kids to color. When they were done, they could bring their art to the store and give it to one of the many local veterans in the area. In return, the veterans were there to take a picture and give back a handout of their history in the military service! It was really neat.
We were running out of time, but Jenn took the coloring pages in and turned them in for the girls. (Not something I like to do for them.) And brought back the handouts for the girls.
I feel so bad posting this when I went in without the girls... but I wanted to show how neat some of the things there are in the community if you take time to be involved. Next time, we'll plan a little better.
